Balanced Scoring Effort Keys Tar Heels' 87-36 Victory Over Liberty

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - Ivory Latta scored 20 points to lead No. 7 North Carolina to an 87-36 rout of Liberty on Monday night.
Erlana Larkins scored 15, LaToya Pringle 14 and La'Tangela Atkinson added 10 points for North Carolina (2-0).
Megan Frazee had 13 points and 15 rebounds for Liberty (1-1). But no other player broke double figures as the Lady Flames connected on just 10 of 53 attempts (18.9 percent) from the field.
The Tar Heels took advantage of Liberty's 33 turnovers and outrebounded the Lady Flames 48-38.
Latta hit four of her first five shots, including two 3-pointers to help North Carolina build a 49-19 lead at the half. Liberty went 10:44 without a basket in a stretch that spanned halftime.
The Tar Heels scored on 15 of its first 20 possessions and jumped out to a 31-9 lead just 8:18 into the game.
North Carolina held Liberty to 5-for-19 shooting (26.3 percent) in the first half. Liberty turned the ball over on 17 of its first 24 possessions and had 24 turnovers by the half.
The Tar Heels led by 78-31 when they cleared their bench with 5:20 to play. The final margin was their biggest lead, coming on a free throw by freshman Heather Claytor with 44 seconds left.
