Boston College coach Cathy Inglese
Opening Statement:
"We're very very excited to be playing Duke tomorrow evening. Last year, we had the opportunity to possibly face them in the sweet 16 and didn't get that chance. It'll be nice to have that opportunity tomorrow. We know they are a very talented team and a top team in the ACC. They do a lot of things well, certainly their scoring ability, their versatility and they're very athletic. I think it will be a super game and we're looking forward to it."
On how the team has managed without leading scorer Jessalyn Deveny:
"I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they are mostly team players and they aren't selfish and work very hard. I think over the last month or so we've become a better defensive team. They know they need to focus in on some of the little things. I think the best thing is that we recruit kids that want to get better, want to work hard, and are very team oriented. I think that if we weren't then we wouldn't be sitting here talking to you this afternoon."
On the differences in the Duke team this year:
"They have the big players. I don't think they had the big players last year. I think [Monique] Currie is playing very well. Their point guard is very athletic. I think they are running a few more screens and set plays than they did last year. I'm still in the process of watching them, but I think their versatility is very good and their ability to score inside and outside."
On the presence of Duke's Alison Bales:
"She's certainly a presence. She sags down low. She's hovering around the key and forces you to do a few things you don't won't to do, but we have a few things that we want to do to try to take her out of that situation. Not totally-we realize we can't- but try to prevent her from being such a presence around the basket. Certainly, they're not many guys you can bring into the gym and practice with ,so it may take us a few minutes to get ourselves adjusted as the game goes on."
Sophomore guard Sarah Marshall
On what Houston did to limit her to 2 points:
"They put a lot of pressure in the backcourt. We knew coming into that game that we were going to see a lot of pressure on the perimeter, so I was expecting that coming in. It wasn't like I was shocked. I thought my teammates did a great job getting open for me and everyone was working without the ball, making my job a lot easier out there."
Senior guard/forward Clare Droesch
Opening statement:
"Just as a team, we're really excited to be here and excited to come off the win verse Houston. I'm excited to play a team like Duke in this atmosphere, so it will be a lot of fun and I'm just excited to play."
On her heel:
"It's a little sore. I didn't practice today to rest it. I think I'll be alright for the game tomorrow."
