AWENDAW, S.C. - North Carolina's men's golf team opened up the first day of The Hootie At Bulls Bay Intercollegiate with a 300-placing them in a tie for twelfth with Vanderbilt. Augusta is currently in first place (276) with a comfortable 12 stroke lead over both South Carolina and Auburn. Augusta is dominating the leader board with two golfers in the top five. Joining these three teams in the top five are Kentucky and Georgia Tech who each had a 290. Chan Song of Georgia Tech and Scott Jamieson of Augusta are each atop the leader board with a 66. One stroke off the pace is Kalle Edberg of Augusta. South Carolina's Alex Hamilton and Auburn's Patton Kizzire each posted a 68, propelling their respective teams to a second place score of 288. Tar Heel Junior Ted Smith is currently setting the pace for the Heels with a first-round 73. Two strokes behind Smith is Kevin Silva, while both Doug Kingston and Martin Ureta are three strokes off of Smith's pace. Matt Crenshaw finished with a 77. The second round started on the first day but was not completed due to course conditions from the recent rain. The second round resumes at 7:30 Tuesday morning, followed by the third round at 9:30.
