Noah Cosby and Lindsay Bond notched individual wins to lead the University of North Carolina track and field teams at the Duke Invitational Saturday in Durham. Cosby and teammate Jared O'Connor were 1-2 in the pole vault, with Cosby clearing 16 feet, 2 3/4 inches. Bond took the 400-meter hurdles in a regional qualifying time of 59.97 seconds.
In the women's pole vault, Tar Heels Rhian Jenks and Tatyana Kirichenko finished second and third, respectively, with Jenks clearing 12-9 1/2 and Kirichenko topping out at 12-5 1/2, both regional qualifying marks. Porscha Dobson took fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, and her preliminary time of 13.72 was good enough to qualify her for regionals.
In other action, Daniel Harris followed up his win the triple jump with a third place finish in the long jump. Cassie King also took third, finishing the 3,000 in 9:38.72. The men's 3,200-meter relay team edged out Coppin State to win in 7:35.22.
One correction from Friday's recap involves Sheena Gordon, who was originally reported to have finished second. However, Gordon was a co-winner with Duke's Debra Vento at 5-8 3/4.
