Martin Ureta Selected to ACC Men's Golf All-Conference Team

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina sophomore Martin Ureta, of Santiago, Chile, captured his first All-Conference honor this year as the Atlatic Coast Conference announced the 2005 team on Monday. Ureta was the Tar Heels' top golfer in every event this fall and finished 2004-05 with the lowest stroke average on the team. He carded four top-five finishes on the year including a second place finish at the Franklin Street Partners Invitational, held at UNC's Finley Golf Course. Ureta was the only Tar Heel to be selected to the 13-member All-ACC team.
Georgia Tech landed four players on this year's team. Seniors Chan Song and Nicholas Thompson, junior Mike Barbosa, and sophomore Roberto Castro make the Yellow Jackets the most represented school on this year's team. Wake Forest, Clemson, Duke, and Virginia each had two players receive all-conference honors.
Duke's Ryan Blaum, the ACC Championship's individual medalist, received this year's ACC Player of the Year honor, while Duke coach Rod Myers was named ACC Coach of the Year. Wake Forest golfer Webb Simpson earned this year's Freshman of the Year award.
