Former Tar Heel Antawn Jamison posted a double-double in each of the three games he played during the 12th week of play in the NBA. Jamison is currently on a four-game double-double streak that has led to 19 double-doubles on the season. His season total ranks seventh overall in the league. Jamison has also been on a high-scoring streak, as he has not scored less than 20 points in the last five games.
Several former Tar Heels have played leading roles in the NBA this season. Brendan Haywood leads the Washington Wizards in blocks per game with an average of 1.50. Vince Carter leads the New Jersey Nets in points per game with an average of 24.6. Antawn Jamison leads the Wizards in rebounds with an average of 9.7. In addition, Rasheed Wallace has led his Detroit Pistons to the best record in the league at 33-5 and the longest winning streak, which currently stands at seven games.
On a less heartening note, Sean May is expected to miss at least six weeks and possibly the remainder of his rookie season after a second arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. He underwent surgery last Thursday to repair damaged cartilage. While the second surgery expects to hold May back this season, the Bobcats' Dr. Glenn Perry expects a full recovery.
