Tar Heel Golfer Martin Ureta In Second Place

Tallahassee, Fla. - Martin Ureta, a junior on North Carolina's golf team, fired a six-under-par 66 for a nine-under 135 total and is in second place going into the final round of the Seminole Intercollegiate. The Tar Heels slipped two spots to fourth place after carding a four-over 292 in the second round for a one-under 575 total.
Ureta, from Santiago, Chile, stands two strokes behind second-round leader Dustin Johnson of Coastal Carolina who fired a 67 on day two for an 11-under 133 total. Stephen Lewton of NC State is one shot behind Ureta with a 136 total while East Tennessee State's Jordan Findlay is fourth at 138 and teammate Rhys Davies is in fifth place at 139.
East Tennessee State held onto its first-round lead by firing a blistering 10-under 278 in the second round for a 16-under 560 total. Coastal Carolina is five strokes back in second place at 11-under 565 while NC State is third at 574 and the Tar Heels are fourth at 575.
Barden Berry, a sophomore from Kinston, N.C., fired an even-par 72 for the Tar Heels and is tied for 11th place with a one-under 143 total. Freshman Robert Riesen, from Pinehurst, N.C., carded a 76 for a 147 total and is tied for 31st place. Seniors Jonathan Jackson, from Chapel Hill, and Ted Smith, from Westlake, Ohio, both shot 78. Jackson is tied for 45th place while Smith is in 63rd place.
The final round of the 54-hole event will be played Tuesday at Golden Eagle Country Club which features a par 72, 6,635-yard layout.
