With the NBA season now two weeks underway, it's time to check on how Carolina's former players are playing thus far. Antawn Jamison leads the bunch in both scoring and rebounding with 20.2 ppg and 11.2 rpg. Also off to hot starts are members from the 2005 National Championship team. Raymond Felton, Marvin Williams, and Rashad McCants are each entering their third season with their team. Felton leads the trio in points with 18.0 ppg, while Williams is close behind with 17.5 ppg and McCants is at 15.0 ppg.
Vince Carter, New Jersey Nets- Has started six of seven games for the Nets and is averaging 17.0 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, and 4.5 assists per game. He had a season-high in points with 24 in a 112-103 win over the Chicago Bulls and an 87-85 win over the Wizards. Behind Richard Jefferson at 26.9 ppg, Carter is the team's second -leading scorer. The Nets are 4-3 and are tied for second with the Raptors in the Atlantic Division. Carter is currently listed as out indefinitely with a sprained right ankle. He suffered the injury in a loss to the Celtics after landing on the foot of Paul Pierce after a dunk.
Raymond Felton, Charlotte Bobcats- Has started five of six games for the Bobcats and is averaging 18.0 ppg, 2.8 rpg, and 6.0 apg. He was absent from the lineup in the 94-63 loss to the 76ers after he suffered a left knee injury against the Suns. He is the team's leading scorer and has hit eight of 15 from three. His best game thus far came on opening night against the Bucks, where he scored 26 and dished out 12 assists in the win. The Bobcats are 3-3 and in second place behind the 5-2 Magic in the Southeast Division.
Brendan Haywood, Washington Wizards- Has started all six games for the Wizards and is averaging 8.5 ppg, 10.2 rpg, and 0.8 apg. He currently sits at tenth in the NBA in blocked shots averaging 2.3 per game. Haywood has already recorded four double-doubles on the season. After starting 0-5, the Wizards got their first win Sunday against the Hawks. Haywood had 13 points and 12 rebounds in the victory.
Antawn Jamison, Washington Wizards- Has started all six games for the Wizards and is averaging 20.2 ppg, 11.2 rpg, and 1.3 apg. He is 14th in the league in three-point shots made with 14, 12th in rebounds, and second on his team in scoring behind Gilbert Arenas. He has a season-high of 27 points and 16 in rebounds. Like his teammate Haywood, he has four double-doubles on the year, with two coming in his past two games.
Sean May, Charlotte Bobcats- Will miss the entire 2007-08 season after undergoing microfracture surgery on his right knee. Tar Heel teammate McCants experienced the same surgery last season.
Rashad McCants, Minnesota Timberwolves- Has started three of five games for the Timberwolves and is averaging 15.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg, and 1.5 apg. He is second on the team in scoring behind Al Jefferson and is eight of 16 from three on the year. His season-high in points is 23. McCants did miss one game due to a sprained right ankle, but he returned to action Saturday against the Kings and scored 16 points in 26 minutes. The Timberwolves remain as one of the NBA's three winless teams at 0-5.
Jeff McInnis, Charlotte Bobcats- Has started one of six games for the Bobcats and is averaging 3.8 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 4.7 apg, and close to 24 minutes per game. He filled in for an injured Felton in his lone start against the 76ers and finished with 11 points and four assists.
David Noel, Milwaukee Bucks- Has not seen any game action this year.
Jerry Stackhouse, Dallas Mavericks- Has started two of six games for the Mavericks and is averaging 10.7 ppg, 3.2 rpg, and 3.8 apg. He has seen time in all six games and is averaging 26.5 mpg. He has a season-high in points of 17 that came against the Cavaliers. The Mavericks currently stand at 4-2 and are in fourth in the Southwest Division.
Reyshawn Terry, Dallas Mavericks- Will spend the year in Greece playing for Aris TT Bank. To date, he has played in three games and has averaged 14.7 ppg and 4 rpg in close to 24 minutes per game.
Rasheed Wallace, Detroit Pistons- Has started all six games and is averaging 15.3 ppg, 6.8 rpg, and 2.0 apg. His season-high in points came in a 97-93 loss to the Bulls where he scored 36 and grabbed nine rebounds. He is third on the team in scoring and second in rebounding behind Antonio McDyess. The Pistons are 5-1 and are in first place in the Central Division ahead of the 4-4 Cavaliers.
Marvin Williams, Atlanta Hawks- Has started all six games for the Hawks and is averaging 17.5 ppg, 6.2 rpg, and 2.5 apg. He has recorded two double-doubles and has been in double figures scoring-wise every game. Williams has also scored 20 or more points in three games, and has also gone for 20 points and 12 rebounds on two separate occasions in a loss to the Wizards and a win against the Suns. Behind Joe Johnson, he is the team's second-leading scorer. The Hawks are 2-4 and in third in the Southeast Division.
Brandan Wright, Golden State Warriors- Has seen time in one of five games for the Warriors. He played close to four minutes in a 108-104 loss to the Cavaliers, taking one shot and recording one rebound. The Warriors are 0-5.
