Sears Inducted Into Hall of Fame

HUNT VALLEY, MD. - University of North Carolina goalkeeper was one of 10 players recently inducted into the Lacrosse Hall of Fame at Hunt Valley, Md. Sears was the 1982 National Player of the Year at North Carolina and led UNC to NCAA championships in 1981 and 1982.
Following is a complete list of 2007 inductees.
Gail Cummings-Danson
* Holds NCAA record with 289 career goals.
* Led Temple to 1988 NCAA championship.
* Played for the winning U.S. World Cup team in 1993.
Gertrude Dunn
* Exceptional all-around athlete who played for the U.S. national team from 1957 to 1963.
* Has previously been enshrined in the National Field Hockey Hall of Fame and is one of the women featured in the National Baseball Hall of Fame from her playing time in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.
Susan Ford
* A four-year player at Connecticut College.
* Continued with the sport as both a coach and umpire.
* Extremely active in developing the sport through her time as president of the United States Women's Lacrosse Association (one of the organizations that merged to form US Lacrosse) and as a board member of the US Lacrosse Foundation.
Tim Goldstein
* Scored 100 points in 1987, becoming just the second player in NCAA history with 100 points in a season.
* Following Cornell career, helped the 1990 U.S. team win the gold.
Susan Kidder
* Played on the first U.S. World Cup team in 1982, capping a 12-year involvement with the national team.
* Also served as a coach at high school and collegiate levels.
Darren Lowe
* Brown's all-time leading scorer with 316 points, the third-highest total in NCAA history.
* A two-time all-World selection and captain for the underdog 2002 U.S. team that captured the ILF world championship.
Sharon Goldbrenner-Pfluger
* Has a remarkable 318-26 record in 21 seasons as the head coach at The College of New Jersey.
* Has led the Lions to 11 NCAA Division III championships.
* Teams won a NCAA-record 102 consecutive games from 1991 to 1997.
Karl Rippelmeyer
* A three-time All-American at Navy who helped the Midshipmen to the 1960 national championship.
* Received several citations for his service in the U.S. Marine Corps, including a Bronze Star.
* Induction came on the 232nd anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Tom Sears
* A two-time national goalie of the year after helping North Carolina to back-to-back NCAA championships in 1981 and 1982.
* USILA Player of the Year in 1982.
* Helped the U.S. team to ILF world championship later that year, earning all-world honors.
Brian Wood
* A four-time All-American attackman at Johns Hopkins, earning first-team honors his final three seasons.
* Helped lead Hopkins to three national championships (1984, 1985 and 1987) during his time at the school.
* Played on the gold-medal winning 1986 U.S. team.
