Tar Heels in Ninth after Day Two at the Hootie at Bulls Bay

The North Carolina men's golf team posted a nine-over 293 on the second day of the Hootie at Bulls Bay. The Tar Heels are now in ninth place with one round to play. Central Florida, the tournament host, stayed atop the leaderboard after posting a 288. The Knights lead second place Wake Forest by four strokes, after the Demon Deacons fired a 279 in the second round. Tied for third is Florida State and Baylor, who are five back after shooting 289 and 280 respectively. The top four teams have a sizeable advantage over the other eleven teams in the tournament.
Senior Martin Ureta fired two-under in the second round moving him from a tie for 28th to a tie for 12th. Sophomore David Holzworth shot a 74 and is now tied for 25th. Robert Riesen and Reed Darsie both shot 75 in the second round and are placed tied for 42nd and tied for 50th. The final Tar Heel, Barden Berry, shot 78 and is tied for 54th.
Central Florida's Greg Forest stayed atop the leaderboard, shooting a four-under 67. Forest is four strokes ahead of the closest competitor. Baylor's Jeremy Frye and Jeremy Alcorn are in second and third place at five-under and four-under after the second day. Six strokes off the lead is Justin Groves of Wake Forest and Matthew Savage of Florida State in a tie for fourth.
The three-day tournament continues with the third and final round Tuesday at the par-71 Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C.
