CHAPEL HILL - Two University of North Carolina women's lacrosse players were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association academic honor roll for the 2006-07 season, the IWLCA announced on Tuesday. Tar Heels Jamie Hanssen and Elizabeth Lancaster were named to the honor roll.
The IWLCA academic honor roll includes student-athletes with junior or senior eligibility and a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. The honor roll includes 417 student-athletes from 161 colleges and universities.
Hanssen, a junior, was one of the top defenders in the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2007. She appeared in all 21 Carolina games during the season, starting 20. She ranked second on the UNC team with 19 caused turnovers on the year.
Lancaster was a senior whose playing career ended due to injury but who served as an undergraduate assistant to head coach Jenny Levy during the '07 campaign.
