FLUSHING, N.Y. --- Recent North Carolina graduates and 2007 NCAA Women's Doubles national champions Sara Anundsen and Jenna Long have received the USTA Wildcard into this week's US Open. This accomplishment marks the first time that a Carolina women's tennis player has appeared in the main draw of the event. The duo will face Kladuia Jans and Alicja Rosolska of Poland in the first round on either Wednesday or Thursday.
"It's an honor for Sara and Jenna to have received this Wild Card from the USTA," head coach Brian Kalbas said. "It represents the hard work and commitment they've made over the last four years from playing No. 3 doubles as freshmen to winning the NCAA Championship. This will be an amazing week for them representing North Carolina and our program against the best players in the world."
