STORRS, Conn. --- North Carolina (17-1, 4-0 ACC) steps out of conference for the final time when the Tar Heels travel to Storrs, Conn., to face unbeaten and top-ranked Connecticut at Gampel Pavilion Monday night at 7. Carolina is coming off a 87-59 win over Boston College on Jan. 17. Connecticut enters Monday's marquee matchup with a record of 17-0 (5-0 Big East) after defeating Cincinnati on Saturday. UNC is ranked No. 3 in both the AP poll and the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll for the second week in a row. Connecticut is ranked No. 1 in both polls for the fourth week in a row.

CONNECTICUT SERIES NOTES
North Carolina is 5-2 all-time against Connecticut, including a 1-1 mark in the state of Connecticut.
UNC has won three straight games against the Huskies, the longest such streak for either team in the series.
The Tar Heels won last year's meeting, 82-76, in Chapel Hill.
UConn won the only prior meeting in Storrs, 97-74, during the 2001-02 season.
FACING THE NATION'S TOP-RANKED TEAM
Carolina is 2-23 all-time against the No. 1 team in the AP poll after falling to No. 1 Tennessee earlier this season.
The Tar Heels have faced a top-ranked Connecticut team just once - the 97-74 loss in Storrs on Nov. 15, 2001.
NOTING THE HUSKIES
Connecticut is 17-0 on the season after beating Cincinnati, 86-49, on Saturday.
The Huskies are led in scoring by freshman Maya Moore. Moore averages 16.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest. Sophomore Tina Charles is pulling down a team-high 10.0 rebounds per game and is second on the team with 14.1 points per outing.
UConn has lost two starters to ACL injuries this season - junior forward Kalana Greene and senior guard Mel Thomas.
The Huskies are led by 23rd-year head coach Geno Auriemma, who has a career record of 638-120. Auriemma and UNC's Sylvia Hatchell are both members of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
STREAKS
Carolina has won seven games in a row since falling to Tennessee on Dec. 2.
Connecticut has won 17 games in a row to open the season. The Huskies last loss was in the 2007 Elite Eight, a 73-50 setback against LSU.
