Carolina Golfer O'Connell 20th At Western Refining All-America Golf Classic

Kevin O'Connell, a sophomore on the University of North Carolina golf team, is in 20th place after two rounds of the 34th annual Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic which is being played at the El Paso Country Club, a par 71, 6,842-yard layout. O'Connell fired a one-over-par 72 in the first round followed by a three-over 74 to finish Monday's play with a four-over 146 total.
Corey Nagy of Charlotte leads the field of 27 players with a four-under 138 total after firing rounds of four-under 67 and even par 71. Clemson's Kyle Stanley is just one stroke behind Nagy in second place at three-under 139 with rounds of 71-68. Jarin Todd of Sonoma State and Charlie Holland of Texas are tied for third place with 140 totals while Trent Leon of Oklahoma State is alone in fifth place at 141.
The final round of the 54-hole event will be played Tuesday at the El Paso Country Club. One Tar Heel has won this prestigious tournament as Davis Love, III was the champion in 1984.
