CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina men's golf coach John Inman announces the signing of one of the state's top golfers, Patrick Barrett from Pinehurst, N.C.

"We are very excited that Patrick is joining our program," says Inman. "He is an outstanding young player and student and we look forward to him becoming a part of the Tar Heel tradition."

Barrett, a letterman at Pinecrest High School, captured the championship at the 2006 AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) Richmond Junior with scores of 65-68-72 for a 205 total. He carded a fourth-place finish at the 2007 Donald Ross Junior and has several wins on the Eastern Junior Golf Tour.

Barrett joins Pinecrest teammate Jack Fields in signing with the Tar Heels. Fields signed last fall.
