Coppadge Earns Provisional Mark At Deacon Combined Events

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Sophomore multi athlete Alexandra Coppadge placed eighth in the heptathlon at the Deacon Combined Events in Winston-Salem, N.C. that concluded on Thursday. Coppadge finished the two-day event with a point total of 5,072 besting the NCAA provisional mark by 22 points. The provisional mark is the second of the outdoor season for Coppadge, but ranks below her 5,161 total at the ACC Outdoor Championships.
Coppadge opened with her highest event total of the week when she clocked a 14.12 in the 100-meter hurdles for 961 points. Coppadge followed with 736 points in the high jump as she cleared 1.60m. The Wilmington, Del. native then added 611 points with a shot put throw of 11.24m. She closed the opening day with 855 points with a 25.35 showing in the 200-meter dash.
Day two saw Coppadge post 680 points in the long jump as she posted a jump of 5.43m. Coppadge tossed the javelin 30.74m for 491 more points before closing out the day with 738 points in the 800-meter run as she clocked a time of 2:26.45.
