Carolina Golfers Named To All-ACC Academic Golf Teams

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Three University of North Carolina men's golfers were named to the 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men's Golf Team while two women was selected to the 2008 All-ACC Academic Women's Golf Team as announced by ACC Commissioner John D. Swofford.
Barden Berry, a senior from Kinston, N.C., was selected the ACC Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year after being named to the All-ACC Academic Men's Golf team for the third consecutive year. He was joined on this year's squad by junior Chase MacFarland, from Savannah, Ga., and freshman Henry Zaytoun III, from Raleigh, N.C. MacFarland was also named to the 2006 team. Berry, a psychology major, was earlier selected a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar and was chosen to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America At-Large Third Team.
Sydney Crane, a junior from Jamestown, N.C., and Ann Laney, a senior from Charlotte, N.C., were selected to the 2008 All-ACC Academic Women's Golf Team. This marks Crane's third consecutive appearance on the squad and Laney's second consecutive appearance. Crane was earlier selected to the All-ACC team.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his/her academic career.
