The University of North Carolina men's golf team carded a 618 total after rounds of 317-301 and is in 14th place after the second round of the General Hackler Championship.
Sophomore Kevin O'Connell led the Tar Heels with rounds of two-over-par 74 and four-over 76 for a 150 total. O'Connell, from Cary, N.C., is tied for 24th place going into Monday's final round. Henry Zaytoun III, a sophomore from Raleigh, N.C., stands at 153 following rounds of 79-74 and is tied for 40th place. Junior Chase MacFarland, a junior from Savannah, fired an even par 72 in the second round and is tied for 46th with a 154 total after carding an 82 in the first round. Senior Robert Riesen has a 162 total after rounds of 82-80 while junior David Holzworth is one stroke back at 163 with rounds of 84-79. Riesen, from Pinehurst, N.C., is alone in 72nd place while Holzworth, from Chapel Hill, is tied for 73rd.
East Tennessee leads the field of 14 teams with an 11-over-par 587 total after firing rounds of 293-294. Pepperdine is three stokes back in second place at 590 while Wake Forest is third at 591 and NC State and Coastal Carolina are tied for fourth place with 597 totals.
Travis Wadkins of Wake Forest grabbed the individual lead at one-under-par 143 with rounds of 73-70. Matt Hill of NC State is one shot back in second place at 144 after scores of 74-70. Two players, Coastal Carolina's Zack Byrd and East Tennessee State's Seamus Power, are deadlocked in third place at one-over-par 145. Byrd carded rounds of 71-74 while Power shot 72-73.
The final round of the 54-hole event will be played Monday at TPC of Myrtle Beach which features a par 72, 6,950-yard layout. Live scoring is available throughout the tournament on Golfstat.com.
