MORE:
The NABC Coaches' Trophy is awarded to the No. 1-ranked team in the final USA TODAY / ESPN Coaches Poll, which is always the winner of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.
Each year, an artisan at Waterford® Crystal in Ireland spends three months hand-crafting the sparkling basketball that sits atop The Coaches' Trophy, which is valued at $30,000.
This is the 19th year The Coaches' Trophy has been awarded by the NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches). It was formerly sponsored by Embraer, Sears and Siemens.
North Carolina has won the trophy three times, also collecting the crystal in 1992-93 and 2004-05, when it was called The Sears Trophy.
Verizon Wireless was chosen to host the trophy displays as an official partner of UNC athletics.
