Carolina Golfer Kevin O'Connell Selected All-Region

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Kevin O'Connell, a sophomore on North Carolina's golf team, was selected to the PING All-East Region team announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. O'Connell, a two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference performer from Cary, N.C., was one of 24 players named to the All-East Region team.
O'Connell has fired three top-10 and nine top-20 finishes in 11 tournaments this year. O'Connell led the Tar Heels with a 72.23 stroke average and tied for 19th place at the NCAA Northeast Regional. He fired nine scores under-par, five in the 60s and posted six even par scores. O'Connell was earlier selected to this year's All-ACC squad for the second consecutive year and was the 2008 ACC Freshman of the Year.
