UNC Men's Golf Team Second At Seminole Intercollegiate

The University of North Carolina men's golf team fired a one-over-par 285 and is in second place after the first round of the Seminole Intercollegiate. Tar Heel sophomore Jack Fields fired a five-under-par 66 and leads all individuals.
Fields, from Southern Pines, carded seven birdies and two bogies, en route to his five-under 66. Philip Chauncey, a junior from Durham, N.C., fired an even par 71 and is tied for 13th place. Junior Henry Zaytoun III and freshman Michael McGowan both carded a three-over 74 to tie for 35th place along with junior Kevin O'Connell, who is playing as an individual. Zaytoun, from Raleigh, N.C., and McGowan, from Southern Pines, both carded a double-bogey on the closing holes. Zaytoun suffered a double-bogey on the par-3 17th hole while McGowan had a double-bogey on the par-3 17th hole. Matt Raudenbush, a sophomore from Pine Valley, N.J., shot a five-over 76 and is tied for 46th place.
Florida State leads the 14-team field after firing a six-under-par 278. The Seminoles hold a seven stroke lead over the Tar Heels. South Carolina and Baylor are three strokes behind Carolina in a tie for third place at four-over 288. Mississippi State is one shot back in fifth place at 289 while North Texas and Troy are tied for sixth place at seven-over 291.
Carolina's Fields holds a three stroke lead over five players who are deadlocked in a tie for second place - Florida State's Drew Kittleson and Seath Lauer, North Texas' Rodolfo Cazaubon, Troy's Justin Eaves and Baylor's Lorenzo Scotto.
The 54-hole event continues through Sunday and is being played at Southwood Golf Club which features a par 71, 7,143-yard layout.
