UNC Tops WPS Rosters With 17 On Opening Day

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina alumnae lead the list of Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) players on the 2010 official team rosters released Thursday. Tar Heels playing in the second season of WPS number 17, with Notre Dame a distance second with eight and Santa Clara third with six. In addition to domestic talent, each team also features up to the limit allowed of five top international players from around the world.
Last year, Carolina alumnae topped the list as well, with 12; however, there are eight teams this year (as opposed to seven last year). Defending WPS Champions Sky Blue FC (NJ/NY) lead the list last year with four; this year, Saint Louis ties, also with four.
