Tar Heel Golfer Michael McGowan Receives NCAA Bid

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - University of North Carolina golfer Michael McGowan received an individual bid to participate in the NCAA Regionals May 19-21. McGowan, a sophomore from Southern Pines, N.C., will be playing at Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, Col.
McGowan has carded nine top-30 finishes in 10 starts this year. His top performances came at the UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate and the Seahawk Intercollegiate where he placed third. McGowan tied for 10th place at the ACC Championships, tied for 13th at the Schenkel Invitational, tied for 17th at the Wolfpack Spring Open, tied for 29th at the Irish Creek Collegiate, tied for 24th at the International Collegiate, tied for 27th at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges and tied for 29th at the Seminole Intercollegiate.
McGowan has a scoring average of 73.13 this year. He has scored seven under-par rounds, two in the 60s, and five even par rounds. He fired his low round of 6-under 66 twice, in the second and third rounds of the UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate.
