CHAPEL HILL - University of North Carolina men's basketball players Tyler Zeller, Patrick Crouch and Van Hatchell all earned spots on the National Association of Basketball Coaches' 2010-11 Honors Court, the NABC announced on Monday. The Honors Court recognizes those collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled academically during the 2010-11 season.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a player must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are:
Zeller earned first-team Academic All-America honors in 2011 and won the Atlantic Coast Conference's Skip Prosser Award, given to the top student-athlete in ACC men's basketball. A business administration major and rising senior, Zeller also grabbed a spot on the All-ACC second-team on the court, helping to lead the Tar Heels to the regional finals of the NCAA Tournament.
Hatchell appeared in 11 games in 2010-11 in his first year on the varsity squad. He graduated in May with a degree in business administration.
Crouch is a rising senior who saw action in 12 games in 2010-11, his first season on the varsity squad. Crouch also is a business administration major.
