No. 22 Tar Heels Face Quick Turnaround At Miami Wednesday

CORAL GABLES, Fla. --- North Carolina looks to rebound from Monday's 40-point loss at Duke when the Tar Heels visit Miami Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at BankUnited Center. Carolina enters the contest 17-6 on the year and 7-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference after a 96-56 loss to the Blue Devils in Durham. Miami is 20-3 and 9-1 in the ACC following a 68-47 win over Clemson on Sunday. UNC is ranked No. 22 in the Associated Press poll. Miami is ranked No. 6 in the AP poll, matching its highest ranking in program history.

MIAMI SERIES NOTES
• North Carolina is 11-4 all-time against Miami, including a 3-2 mark in the Miami/Coral Gables area.
• Carolina won the first meeting of 2012, a 65-63 triumph in Chapel Hill that is Miami's lone ACC loss to date.
• The two teams split a pair of games in 2011. Miami took the regular season meeting, 78-66, in Chapel Hill, while the Tar Heels returned the favor with an 83-57 victory in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament in Greensboro.
• UNC is 6-2 against the Hurricanes in ACC regular season play. This year marks the first time the two schools have played a regular-season home-and-home.
CAROLINA AGAINST RANKED OPPONENTS
• Carolina is 124-197 all-time against opponents ranked in the Associated Press Top 25, including a 1-4 mark in 2011-12.
• Since the start of the 2004-05 season, Carolina is 45-30 against ranked opponents. The Tar Heels have 19 wins against teams in the top 10 of the AP poll during that stretch, including 13 wins over teams in the top five.
• UNC's most recent top-10 win came against Miami in last season's ACC Tournament. Carolina's last road win over a top-10 team was an 80-79 victory over No. 2 Oklahoma in the final of the 2008 Preseason WNIT.

DURHAM, N.C. --- Chay Shegog tallied 19 points for the No. 22 Tar Heels, but No. 5 Duke snapped North Carolina's five-game winning streak with a 96-56 victory on Monday night. Laura Broomfield finished with 10 rebounds for North Carolina. Richa Jackson added 17 points for the Blue Devils (19-3, 10-0 Atlantic Coast Conference). They shot 54 percent and led by 41 in claiming their third straight win against North Carolina.
SHEGOG EARNS SECOND PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOD
Center Chay Shegog and earned Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 5. Shegog scored a game-high 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the floor to help North Carolina beat Virginia, 64-56, the fifth consecutive win for the Tar Heels. She also grabbed five rebounds and held Virginia's starting front line of Chelsea Shine and Simone Egwu to just eight points on 2-of-6 shooting. The Stafford, Va., native reached 20 points for the ninth time this season and double figures for the 19th time in 22 games.
