Shegog Named To WBCA All-Region Team

ATLANTA --- North Carolina senior center Chay Shegog was named to the seven-player WBCA All-Region 2 team, the organization announced this week. On, Monday, March 19, the WBCA All-America selection committee will review the 52 candidates from the eight regions and trim the list to 40 finalists, all of whom will be in the running for selection to the 10-member WBCA Division I Coaches' All-America Team.
Shegog led UNC to a 20-11 record in 2011-12 and a fifth place finish in the Atlantic Coast Conference. She was a second-team All-ACC selection after averaging career bests of 15.6 points and 6.9 rebounds. The Stafford, Va., product concluded her career with 1,313 career points, good for 26th in school history.
Shegog is joined on the Region 2 team by Miami's Shenise Johnson and Riquna Williams, Maryland's Alyssa Thomas, Duke's Chelsea Gray and Elizabeth Williams, and Delaware's Elena Delle Donne.
