Cosentino Inducted Into Phi Beta Kappa

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Acacia Cosentino, a senior captain on the North Carolina gymnastics team, is one of 148 UNC students inducted into Phi Beta Kappa national honors society, the nation's oldest and most prestigious college honorary societies.
The induction ceremony took place Nov. 17 at the Friday Center.
Cosentino, from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, is an English and philosophy double major. A fifth-year senior who missed the 2013 season due to injury, she earned second-team All-EAGL honors in uneven bars in 2014. She has been named to the EAGL All-Academic Team in each year of her career and also has earned Dean's List and ACC Academic Honor Roll recognition
To qualify for membership, a student must carry a 3.75 or better GPA after completing 105 course hours or a 3.85 after completing 75 hours. Past and present Phi Beta Kappa members from across the country have included six American presidents, 12 U.S. Supreme Court justices and numerous artistic, intellectual and political leaders. There are 270 Phi Beta Kappa chapters nationwide. UNC's chapter, Alpha of North Carolina, was founded in 1904 and is the oldest of six chapters in the state.
