Tar Heels No. 21 In AP Poll

Tar Heel Poll Notes
• North Carolina is ranked No. 21 in this week's Associated Press top 25 poll, falling nine spots from No. 12 after losing to Iowa and beating East Carolina at home last week.
• This is Carolina's second week outside of the AP top 10 this season after spending the first three polls at No. 6 for two weeks and No. 5 for one week.
•The Tar Heels began the 2014-15 season ranked sixth in the preseason. UNC started the season in the top 10 for the ninth time in 12 seasons under head coach Roy Williams.
• Carolina is ranked in the AP poll for the ninth week in a row. UNC was ranked in the final four polls of last season, finishing the year at No. 19 (the final AP poll is released prior to the NCAA Tournament each season).
Looking Back…
• Ranked 12th last week, the Tar Heels lost at home to unranked Iowa in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and beat unranked East Carolina.
Coming Up...
• This week, the Tar Heels won't play a mid-week game while the team completes fall semester final exams. On Saturday, Carolina will visit top-ranked Kentucky, which received all 64 first-place votes in this week's poll. No team has more wins over AP No. 1-ranked teams than UNC's 13.
• Other Tar Heel opponents coming up soon on the schedule include No. 12 Ohio State (Dec. 20 in Chicago), No. 25 Notre Dame (Jan. 5) and No. 4 Louisville (Jan. 10).

• There are six Atlantic Coast Conference teams ranked in this week's AP poll, including No. 2 Duke, No. 4 Louisville, No. 6 Virginia, No. 20 Miami, No. 21 Carolina and No. 25 Notre Dame.

• Carolina has been ranked in 825 AP polls, more than any school in the nation.
• The Tar Heels have been ranked in the AP Top 10 626 times, most in ACC history and second-most all-time behind Kentucky (637).
• The Tar Heels have achieved a Top 10 ranking in the AP poll in 52 of the poll's 66 seasons, including 46 of the last 49. Carolina has finished in the AP Top 10 34 times, including 23 of the last 34.
