First, start with the Inside the ACC Tournament video that will get you fired up for this year's tournament.
With the double bye, the Tar Heels open play on Friday afternoon in game 2 of session 3. Join the pep band and cheerleaders at The Proximity to send-off the basketball team to the Greensboro Coliseum with lots of Carolina blue at 11:45 a.m. Once the Heels are on the bus, head over to Fan Fest (10 a.m. - noon and 4:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.) to enjoy live music, games and much more before going into the game.
If you are staying for the second session on Friday, there are three great options that don't involve any driving to pass the time in between.
- Stamey's: Head across High Point Road (2206 High Point Rd.) and grab some local BBQ, hush puppies, cobbler and sweet tea to refuel before walking back to the coliseum
- Natty Greene's: Join the ACC Tourney Town Party right across the from the coliseum via Lee Street (1918 W. Lee St.)featuring food, drinks and live music
- Tailgate in the parking lot: Lots of great ACC tournament memories are made staying in the parking lot between session tailgating
Start your Saturday morning at the annual ACC Basketball Legends Brunch (10 a.m., Sheraton Four Seasons Hotel) honoring UNC's Eric Montross, who joins the 2014 class. After brunch, stop by Fan Fest (10 a.m. - 1 p.m) before heading into the games. The 2014 Legends class will be recognized during halftime of the first semifinal game.
Hopefully you are still in Greensboro on Saturday evening and feel like celebrating. If so, join other ACC fans at the "Tournament Town Goes Downtown Block Party" starting at 6:30 p.m. including a free concert by Eddie Money.
Greensboro features a wide range of cuisine options to fit your palette and wallet.
- 1618 Seafood Grille: fresh, flavor-driven menu of seafood and non-seafood options
- Josephine's Bistro: Eclectic menu featuring farm to table concept with a variety of options to satisfy many different tastes
- Sticks and Stones: Pizzas using fresh, local and seasonal ingredients cooked in an all wood-burning oven
- Fishbones: A casual pourhouse serving house-crafted entrees including late night options
- Emma Keys Flat Top Grill: 1950's restored barber shop serving up burgers grilled on a classic flat top, hot dogs, fries and shakes
- Lindley Park Filling Station: Casual local spot filled with lots of Greensboro inspired sandwiches, wraps and salads
- Maxie B's: Locally owned bakery and dessert café will help satisfy any sweet tooth
Forget something? Four Seasons Town Centre is just a couple of miles away on High Point Road. If you have some extra time, a visit to the ACC Hall of Champions is a must for any ACC fan. The interactive hall honoring past and present ACC coaches and athletes will have special hours during the ACC Tournament.
If you aren't traveling to Greensboro, join your local Carolina Club game viewing party to cheer on the Heels.
