Golfers in 11th After First Round

AWENDAW, S.C., - The University of North Carolina men's golf team is in 11th place after the first round of the Hootie At Bulls Bay Intercollegiate. The team shot a 6-over-par 294 and was led by freshman Henry Do and junior Brandon Dalinka who both shot even par and are tied for 25th overall.
Do, from Canton, Mich., birdied two of his last four holes to end at even par. Dalinka, of Newtown Pa., had a solid round with three birdies and three bogeys. Bailey Patrick, from Charlotte, N.C., carded a 2-over-par 74 with four bogeys and two birdies. The junior is tied for 48th. Keagan Cummings, a freshman from Dublin, Ireland, finished at 4-over-par 76. Cummings had six bogeys and two birdies and is tied for 56th. Senior Andy Sajevic, a native of Fremont Neb., finished the first round tied for 67th after posting a 6-over-par 78.
Missouri and South Carolina lead the 15-team field at 7-under-par 281. Tied for third are College of Charleston and Wake Forest at 6-under-par 282. In a three-way tie for fifth are Virginia and Kentucky at 5-under-par 283. Auburn is in seventh at 3-under-par.
Derek Bard from Virginia, Ben Dietrich from South Carolina, and Josh Lorenzetti from College of Charleston are leading all individuals at 4-under-par 68. Six golfers are tied for fourth at 3-under-par 69: David Cooke of NC State, Stephen Powers of Kentucky, Cyrus Stewart of Wake Forest, Ben Stow of Kentucky, and Euan Walker and Ryan Zech of Missouri.
The 54-hole event will continue tomorrow at 9 a.m. The competition is being played at Bulls Bay Golf Club which features a par 72, 7,363-yard layout. A recap of performances and results will be available on Goheels.com at the end of each day.
