UPDATE: Due to forecasted rain in the area, Friday's series-opener is now set to begin at 3 p.m.
DURHAM, N.C. --- No. 18 North Carolina returns to Atlantic Coast Conference play as the Tar Heels open a three-game series at crosstown rival Duke Friday at 3 p.m. at Jack Coombs Field. Carolina is 15-9 and 5-4 in league play after losing both ends of a doubleheader against Georgia Tech last Saturday and a midweek contest against Winthrop. Duke is 14-12 and 4-5 in the ACC after getting swept at Pittsburgh and a midweek loss at Davidson.

CAROLINA-DUKE SERIES HISTORY
• North Carolina is 181-96-2 all-time against Duke, including a 39-9 record against the Blue Devils under Mike Fox.
• Carolina has won nine straight in the series, including a three-game sweep at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in 2012.
• UNC's last visit to Jack Coombs Field came in 2008. The Tar Heels took two out of three for their seventh consecutive series win over the Blue Devils.
• Duke's last series win came in 2010 in Durham. The Blue Devils won two of three in Chapel Hill in 2009 and two of three at the DBAP in 2010 before Carolina swept nine straight games from 2011-13.
• The all-time series dates back to 1891 when Carolina beat Trinity College 8-3.
