Tar Heels Host Annual Banquet

The coaches' award was presented to Megan Buckland, while Whitney Adams was given the Most Inspirational Award.
Brittany Rountree was presented with the strength and conditioning award, and Hillary Summers was named most improved in strength and conditioning.
Junior Danielle Butts was named the sixth player of the year for the second-consecutive season.
Stephanie Mavunga was recognized as the team's Overall Champion for receiving the most cumulative points in all of the statistical categories in which totals are kept throughout the season, while Diamond DeShields was named top offensive player and Rountree was named the team's best defender.
Summers also earned the Jan Boxill Award for academics.
DeShields was recognized for being named the ACC Rookie of the Year among her numerous awards she racked up this past season for the Tar Heels.
Coach Hatchell was honored for her induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame last fall, while it was mentioned that her 935 career victories is not only the second most in women's college basketball history behind Pat Summitt, but its also the fourth most in college basketball history behind only Summitt and men's coaches Mike Krzyzewski (Duke) and Jim Boeheim of Syracuse.
Also on hand were former players Tierra Ruffin-Pratt and Candace Wood.
Hatchell presented awards to the team's top players in the following categories:
• Best field goal percentage - Mavunga
• Best three-point percentage - Allisha Gray
• Best free throw percentage - DeShields
• Most offensive rebounds - Mavunga
• Most defensive rebounds - Mavunga
• Most passes to the post - Rountree
• Most assists - Latifah Coleman
• Most blocks - Mavunga
• Most deflections - Mavunga
• Most steals - DeShields
• Most screens - Mavunga
• Most dives - DeShields
• Most charges drawn - Rountree
• Most outlets - Xylina McDaniel
Danny Maddox, George Alston and Patrick Marsh took home the Outstanding Service Awards, and Tar Heel Team Tempo received the Volunteer of the Year award.
