September 7, 2014 | Men's Golf
ROCKY FACE, GA. - The North Carolina men's golf team finished ninth at their first tournament of the 2014-2015 season at 3-under-par 861 at the Carpet Capital Collegiate after carding a 4-under 286 in the final round. Senior Brandon Dalinka was the low Tar Heel of the tournament at 4-under 212 in a tie for 10th after a final-round even-par 72.
"We really got off to a great start today, the start that we needed, even with five holes to play, we were playing fantastic," Head Coach Andrew Sapp said. "We just struggled coming in, made some bogeys and obviously, on our final hole, number nine, had to count a triple and a double. But I'm really proud of the way the guys fought at the beginning of the round, really throughout the whole day, trying to make something happen. Obviously, it was disappointing to finish ninth. Every shot is going to count, and unfortunately, we didn't finish off the round the way we wanted to. But definitely a lot of positives coming from this event, going to look forward to hosting the Tar Heel Intercollegiate this upcoming weekend, and hopefully, we can take some momentum going into that playing a solid round today."
