The Tar Heels tied for fifth last week at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, and now head to a place of past success at the Grandover Resort. Carolina has finished first the past two years and in three of the last five, with individual titles in the past two years by Henry Do and Ben Griffin, both winning in their freshman seasons.
Last year, Carolina won the title by 12 strokes at 15-under-par 849 with Griffin edging Scott Vincent of Virginia Tech by one stroke with a 10-under-par 206. That was Griffin's second title of the season after a victory at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate.
Carolina enters the Bridgestone ranked 12th in the country by Golfweek and 18th by Golfstat.
