CHAPEL HILL—North Carolina (18-8, 8-5 ACC) will host Georgia Tech (12-14, 3-11) on Saturday at noon, looking to snap a two-game losing streak. It will be the first meeting between the schools this season, but the teams will have a rematch in Atlanta in 10 days (on March 3 in McCamish Pavillion).
The ACC Network will televise the game regionally (list of affiliates). It will be streamed online at TheACC.com and by WatchESPN. Wes Durham (play-by-play) and Mike Gminski (analyst) will call the action.
The Tar Heels are returning home for their first game in the Smith Center in nearly three weeks (since a loss to Virginia on Feb. 2). Carolina played its last three games on the road, beating Boston College while losing at Pitt and Duke.
The Tar Heels enter the game with an Atlantic Coast Conference record of 8-5, tied for fourth place in the standings with Louisville and Syracuse behind Virginia (12-1), Notre Dame (11-3) and Duke (10-3).
Carolina lost, 92-90, in overtime at Duke on Wednesday night. UNC has lost four of its last five games since beating Syracuse on Jan. 26 to cap a six-game winning streak and a 7-1 start in ACC play.
Georgia Tech enters Saturday's game with a record of 12-14 overall and 3-11 in ACC play. The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 63-52 home win over Clemson on Monday night but have lost four of their last six outings.
The Jackets are No. 76 overall in the KenPom.com rankings, coming in at No. 174 in adjusted offensive efficiency and No. 29 in adjusted defensive efficiency.
The Tar Heels lead the all-time series with Georgia Tech, 64-24, including a 50-22 edge since the Yellow Jackets joined the ACC. Carolina is 27-6 against Georgia Tech in Chapel Hill and 22-4 in the Smith Center.
The Tar Heels have won 14 of the last 16 meetings with the Yellow Jackets in Chapel Hill (UNC losses in 2010 and 2011 since 1997).
After Saturday's game, the Tar Heels will host North Carolina State on Tuesday night. The Tar Heels will return to the road next Saturday at Miami.
