North Carolina-Rhode Island Series History
• Carolina and Rhode Island have played just one time in their collective histories prior to this weekend.
• UNC won that lone meeting back in 1967, a 1-0 victory in Chapel Hill. That game, under legendary head coach Walter Rabb, was the Tar Heels' first since participating in the 1966 College World Series.
Noting The UCLA Series
• Carolina suffered its first series loss of 2015 last weekend in Orlando, dropping two of three to No. 4 UCLA.
• After a dominant opening weekend against Seton Hall, the Tar Heel pitching staff struggled against the Bruins. UNC was outscored 26-18 and Carolina's starters allowed 10 earned runs in 13.2 innings.
• Wood Myers led the offensive attack for Carolina, finishing the three-game set with seven hits in 14 at-bats (.500).
• Tyler Ramirez was also outstanding at the plate against UCLA. The sophomore right fielder posted a .375/.643/.750 slash line and hit his second home run of the year Friday. Ramirez has reached in seven straight plate appearances (five walks, two singles) and has raised his season OBP to .500.
