Franklin "Rusty" Clark Named ACC Legend

GREENSBORO, N.C. —Thirteen former standout players and a pair of record-setting coaches headline this year's class of ACC Basketball Legends. Franklin "Rusty" Clark will represent the Tar Heels as UNC's legend for 2015.
The Legends will be recognized during the 2015 New York Life ACC Tournament, which will be held March 10-14 at the Greensboro Coliseum. They will be featured at the annual ACC Legends Luncheon, which will be held Friday, March 13, beginning at noon in the Guilford Ballroom of the Sheraton Four Seasons Hotel. They will then be introduced that evening to the Greensboro Coliseum crowd during halftime of the first semifinal game.

This year's ACC Legends class includes two National Players of the Year, a Final Four MVP, seven players who earned conference player of the year honors and a pair of ACC Tournament MVPs. The group combined to make eight NCAA Final Four appearances and capture 10 ACC Tournament titles. The two coaches in this year's class own a combined 971 wins in 51 collegiate seasons.

A Morehead Scholar, the top academic scholarship awarded at the University of North Carolina • One of the first two ACC players in history (with teammate Bill Bunting) to start in three NCAA Final Fours • Member of Coach Dean Smith's first three ACC regular-season champions, ACC Tournament champions and Final Four teams • Averaged 14.7 points and 10.2 rebounds in 91 games • One of seven Tar Heels to average a double-double in their career • Finished his career as UNC's fifth-leading scorer and second-leading rebounder (behind only Billy Cunningham) and still maintains the fifth-highest career rebounding average by a Tar Heel • Set and still holds the UNC single-game rebounding record with 30 against Maryland on Feb. 21, 1968, which equals the sixth-highest single-game figure in ACC history • Had 27 points in that game • Scored in double figures 74 times, grabbed 10 or more rebounds 47 times, had 43 double-doubles and scored 20 or more points 21 times • Scored a career-high 28 points against The Citadel on Feb. 22, 1969 • Most Valuable Player in the 1968 NCAA East Regional after an 18-point, 10-rebound game vs. St. Bonaventure and 22 points and 17 rebounds in the regional final vs. Davidson • NCAA All-Regional Team selection in 1967 and 1968 • A longtime surgeon in Fayetteville.
