North Carolina-Pittsburgh Series History
• Friday begins just the second series between North Carolina and Pittsburgh in the two programs' collective history. The two schools had never met in baseball prior to last season, Pitt's first in the ACC.
• Carolina took two of three last season in Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels took both games of a doubleheader from the Panthers on March 8 before Pitt won the series finale 6-4.
• Joe Dudek hit a grand slam in a six-run first as the Tar Heels took the series opener 9-5.
• Benton Moss followed up the opening-game win with a career-high 12 strikeouts in the 2-1 victory.
• Pitt rallied for two runs in the eighth against the Carolina bullpen to salvage the series finale with a 6-4 win.
Myers Out With Broken Leg
• Sophomore SS Wood Myers suffered a broken left fibula in Tuesday's game at Coastal Carolina and will undergo surgery next week at UNC Hospitals.
• Myers' status will be updated next week following surgery.
Noting The Midweek Games
• Carolina dropped its second straight game with Tuesday's loss at Coastal. The Tar Heels scored in the top of the first but surrendered two in the third to fall behind for good. UNC is now 6-1 in games after scoring first.
• Trevor Kelley worked 3.2 hitless innings to pick up his second relief win of the year. The senior sidearmer has lowered his ERA to 1.31 in 20.2 innings.
• Freshman right-hander Jason Morgan made his collegiate debut in the Sunday game against Duke, working 2.2 scoreless innings and allowing just two hits. Morgan earned an unusual 15-out save in Wednesday's win over Gardner-Webb, allowing just one run over the final five innings of the 6-1 victory.
• RF Tyler Ramirez hit his third home run of the season in the first inning Wednesday, surpassing his season total from 2014. Michael Russell, Tom Zengel, Korey Dunbar and Joe Dudek tied for the team lead last year with four homers.
