Opening Statement
“We're excited about playing tomorrow night. We watched Ohio State last night. They are a very, very good team with some great players. Should be a great game. We'll have our hands full but I feel like we've played some great teams in our conference. It should be a great game with two very talented teams.”
On playing at home
“The NCAA [tournament], it can go either way. Biggest thing is we don't have to travel but it's a basketball court, it's a goal, it's a ball. I think they'll have a lot of fans there. I hope we'll have a big crowd. But hey it's [the] NCAA [tournament].”
On how Ohio State compares to teams UNC has faced
“Ohio State is an up-and-down the floor, athletic type team, which is the trademark for the ACC. A lot of our teams really like to move up and down the floor…but a whole bunch of them are athletic and really like to go.”
Brittany Rountree, Senior Guard
On Ohio State's pace of play
“They play at a very fast pace and we are Carolina basketball, we play just as fast or even faster. So I think it will be a good game tomorrow.”
On matching up against Kelsey Mitchell
“I love a competition and she is a great player, but I love a competition and I think we have a great game plan for tomorrow.
Stephanie Mavunga, Sophomore Forward
On the absence of Xylina McDaniel this season
“We call each other POC, which stands for partner on the court, so not having my partner on the court for the last I don't know how many games has been a lot different, but then at the same time I've gotten used to having Danielle [Butts] and N'Dea [Bryant] out there. They are really good players too but they just play a whole different style than Xylina does. They're more athletic, they like to step out a little bit more, and they jump a lot, where as Xylina goes to the contact and she bangs kind of like I do…I think I've got double teamed a lot more since she has been gone but Danielle [Butts] and N'Dea [Bryant] are willing to step it up at any time.”
Latifah Coleman, Senior Guard
On playing in the tournament at home
“We were very excited about it. We watch the selection show in [the] Loudermilk [Center for Excellence] and everybody was just ecstatic about it when it came up. It's a great joy for us.”
