LeHardy First In 1,500 At Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – The University of North Carolina track and field teams split up traveling to the Raleigh Relays and Florida State Relays. Both squads found success in their own right.
Down the road at the Raleigh Relays, Annie LeHardy took first in the women's 1,500. LeHardy ran 4:21.88 to secure first. Lianne Farber wasn't far behind at 4:27.53, taking eighth overall while freshman Caroline Alcorta timed in at 4:29.53 for 14th.
Natisha Dixon ran a 14.05 in the women's 100-meter hurdles for third overall.
On the men's side of the 1,500 Ryan Walling came in 13th at 3:50.57, finishing second in his heat. Mark Derrick was only two seconds behind and finished in 23rd.
Caroline O'Hea took ninth in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at 10:51.69. In the same event on the men's side Mihret Coulter ran 9:15.45 for 11th.
Cierra Dunston ran 56.59 in the women's 400 to finish 12th overall.
At the Florida State Relays AJ threw a PR in the men's discus at 175-0 (53.35 meters), just a few feet short of the school's fifth-best mark. Hicks also threw a PR in the men's hammer at 191-5 (58.34 meters)
Cameron Overstreet and Amanda Benninghoff went second and third in the women's pole vault both clearing 3.80 meters.
Emily Godwin finished second in the women's long jump at 18-1 (5.51 meters).
Paul Haley finished third in the 110-meter hurdles at 14.55.
Sarah Howard also took third in the women's discus at 148-3 (45.18 meters). Howard's third and fourth throw each matched that mark.
Avana Story took fourth in the women's hammer after throwing 177-4 (54.06 meters) on her final attempt.
With the event being scored, the women's team ended in fourth with 34 points while the men's team ended with 24 points. Both meets will continue tomorrow and a full recap of performances and results will be available on Goheels.com following the conclusion of both meets.
