Tar Heels Finish 12th In Coaches Poll

CHAPEL HILL—North Carolina finished No. 12 in the final ESPN/USA Today coaches poll of the 2014-15 season, released after this month's conclusion of the NCAA Tournament. The Tar Heels had been No. 14 in the poll released in mid-March, between the Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA Tournaments.
Last month, the Tar Heels were ranked No. 15 in the final Associated Press poll of the season. The AP releases its final poll prior to the NCAA Tournament.
UNC finished ninth nationally in the NCAA's final RPI rankings, moving up from 11th in the previous rankings.
Carolina went 26-12 in 2014-15, including an 11-7 mark in ACC play, reaching the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for an NCAA-record 26th time.
Tar Heel AP Poll Notes
• Carolina was ranked in the AP poll for the 23rd week in a row, including all 19 polls in 2014-15. UNC was ranked in the final four polls of the 2013-14 season.
•The Tar Heels began the 2014-15 season ranked sixth in the preseason. UNC started the season in the top 10 for the ninth time in 12 seasons under head coach Roy Williams.
• Carolina has been ranked in 839 AP polls, more than any school in the nation.
• The Tar Heels have been ranked in the AP Top 10 626 times, most in ACC history and second-most all-time behind Kentucky.
• The Tar Heels have achieved a Top 10 ranking in the AP poll in 52 of the poll's 66 seasons, including 46 of the last 49. Carolina has finished in the AP Top 10 34 times, including 23 of the last 34.
