Loeb Moves On To NCAA Quarterfinals
May 22, 2015 | Women's Tennis
Loeb, the No. 7 seed in the 64-player field, won 6-3, 6-1 over Joana Eidukonyte of Clemson, who entered the NCAA finals ranked No. 12 in the country.
The 2014 ITA National Player of the Year had to overcome two rain delays during her victory.
"I tried to keep up the momentum the best I could,” said Loeb. “I felt like I was playing a lot better today, and I wanted to use that coming back from the rain delay.
“I think I did a good job sticking to the game plan and not letting the weather affect me. If I play the way that I did today, hopefully I can keep it up and do more damage.”
Loeb, who also reached the quarterfinals as a freshman in 2014, will face defending national-champion Danielle Collins of Virginia on Saturday with the winner advancing to the final four.
Meanwhile in the doubles draw, Loeb and senior Caroline Price fell 3-6, 6-4, 3-6 to No. 2 seed Stanford (Taylor Davidson/Carol Zhao).
