May 30, 2015 | Men's Golf
University of North Carolina men's golfers Carter Jenkins, Ben Griffin and William Register were named to the 2015 PING Division I all-region team as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Each of the three golfers hails from the state of North Carolina. Jenkins is a sophomore from Raleigh, Griffin is a freshman from Chapel Hill and Register is a freshman from Burlington.
They are among 155 men's golfers from across the country named to an all-region team. The UNC golfers were selected to the East squad.
Griffin and Register each won a pair of tournaments this season for head coach Andrew Sapp's squad.
Griffin led the Tar Heels with a stroke average of 71.06 in 12 events and earned All-ACC honors.
Register was second on the team with a stroke average of 71.63 and, like Griffin, shot 11 rounds in the '60s. He was UNC's top placer at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional, where he tied for 13th.
Jenkins transferred to Carolina from UNCG after the fall semester. He was one of UNC's top two finishers in four spring events, including a team-best fourth-place finish at the Lamkin San Diego Classic.
