June 1, 2015 | Men's Basketball
CHAPEL HILL—The University of North Carolina men's basketball team will play a game at the University of Northern Iowa on November 21, 2015. The contest will be a homecoming game for Tar Heel senior Marcus Paige, a native of Marion, Iowa, who played at Linn-Mar High School.
Paige was a prep teammate of Panther guard Matt Bohannon at Linn-Mar. Marion is located approximately one hour from the UNI campus in Cedar Falls.
“We wanted to give Marcus an opportunity to play in his home state, and we wanted to play against a quality opponent, which Northern Iowa certainly is," says Tar Heel head coach Roy Williams. "I've known and admired 'Jake' going back to when he was an assistant for Greg McDermott. He's a great guy. They have an outstanding program. I know Marcus is excited about being able to play in the state of Iowa for the first time as a Tar Heel."
Carolina will visit UNI at the McLeod Center on Saturday Nov. 21 on its way to play in the 2015 CBE Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City, Mo., on Nov. 23 and 24. The Tar Heels will join Kansas State, Missouri and Northwestern for doubleheaders on the Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week at the Sprint Center.
