CHAPEL HILL—Fourteen former University of North Carolina basketball players made the grade and were on opening night rosters for the 2016-17 NBA season, the league announced this week.
Tar Heels on 2016-17 NBA opening night rosters include:

Vince Carter, Memphis
Ed Davis, Portland
Wayne Ellington, Miami
Raymond Felton, Los Angeles Clippers
Danny Green, San Antonio
John Henson, Milwaukee
Brice Johnson, Los Angeles Clippers
Ty Lawson, Sacramento
James Michael McAdoo, Golden State
Marvin Williams, Charlotte
Brandan Wright, Memphis
Tyler Zeller, Boston
Fellow former Tar Heels Tyler Hansbrough, Kendall Marshall, P.J. Hairston, Marcus Paige and J.P. Tokoto are free agents who hope to sign on with NBA teams as the season progresses.

Bullock is entering his second season in Detroit after hitting 41.5 percent of his three-point attempts last year ... Carter is the NBA's oldest player at age 39 and has played more seasons (19) than any former Tar Heel ... Carter won the 2016 Twyman-Stokes Award as the best teammate in the NBA (voted on by NBA players) ... Davis is entering his seventh season and his second in Portland ... Ellington signed with Miami as a free agent prior to the season ... Felton signed with the Clippers for his 12th NBA season, joining 2016 first-round pick Johnson as Tar Heels in L.A. ... Green has the highest regular-season winning percentage of any player in NBA history (.746) ... Henson enters his fifth season in Milwaukee in the midst of a four-year contract with the Bucks ... Lawson has impressed early this season wilth the Kings after signing as a free agent over the summer ... McAdoo re-signed wtih Golden State after the 2015-16 season after earning his spot as an undrafted free agent in 2014-15 ... Williams re-signed with Charlotte prior to the 2016-17 campaign ... Wright is back for his second season in Memphis in his home state of Tennessee ... Zeller re-signed in Boston after the 2015-16 season and is entering his fifth season.
