Berry Out For Davidson Game
December 5, 2016 | Men's Basketball
CHAPEL HILL – University of North Carolina junior point guard Joel Berry II will not play against Davidson on Wednesday (Dec. 7) due to a sprained left ankle, an injury he suffered early in the second half of Sunday's 95-50 win over Radford.
Berry is questionable to play in Sunday's game (Dec. 11) against Tennessee. The Apopka, Fla., native is Carolina's second-leading scorer at 14.8 points per game and leads the Tar Heels in assists, three-point field goals and free throw percentage. He was the MVP of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational.
Junior Theo Pinson had x-rays on Monday to check the progress of a broken bone in his right foot. He underwent surgery on October 26th and has not played in Carolina's first nine games. He is expected to be out 8-12 weeks.
X-rays today showed the bone is healing as expected. The next step is to do a CT scan that will help determine when Pinson may begin impact activities such as running and jumping.
