February 7, 2016 | Baseball
Chapel Hill, NC -- The Blue squad scored five runs in the bottom of the second and never looked back as they cruised to an 11-2 win over Navy on Sunday afternoon at a frigid Boshamer Stadium.
Tyler Lynn scored the first run of the scrimmage on Brendan Illies's safety squeeze bunt in the second. The next two runs of the inning came on a bases-loaded wild pitch and a fielder's choice. Tyler Ramirez drove in the next run with a double, then Kyle Datres's run-scoring single finished up the five-run inning.
Blue scored two more runs in the third on Brian Miller's RBI-single and a Logan Warmoth run-scoring single. Navy scored its only runs in the fifth on a Cole Gibbs RBI-single and a wild pitch with a man on third.
Blue scored three runs in the seventh. Brian Miller hit a solo home run to right, then two more runs scored on a pair of passed balls.
J.T. Rogoszewski and Rodney Hutchison were the two starters. Cole Aker, Spencer Trayner, Zach Rice, Ryder Ryan and Hunter Williams threw in relief.
The Tar Heels next scrimmage will be on Tuesday.
