Walker, Watts Earn All-ACC Awards

Watts, from Wesley Chapel, North Carolina, was named Rookie of the Week an ACC-leading four times this season. She leads Carolina and ranks 10th in the ACC in scoring at 14.5 points per game. The rookie standout has been at her best in recent weeks, averaging 17.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals in eight games in the month of February.
For the season, Watts leads all ACC freshman in scoring (14.4), blocked shots (1.3), three-point field goals made (72) and ranks second in rebounding (7.2), fifth in steals (45) and sixth in assists (2.6) per game.
Her running mate all season long has been Walker, the native of Orlando, Florida. She has scored in double figures 27 times thus far, tops among ACC freshman, and averages 14.0 points per game, good for 14th in the ACC.
Walker has played an NCAA-leading 1,149 minutes in 2015-16, and her 37.1 mpg are second most in UNC program history. Walker's 32 points in just her three collegiate game against Florida A&M on Nov. 17, 2015, marked the second most points ever scored by a first-year Tar Heel player.
Walker and Watts are the two top-scoring freshmen in the ACC this season. The Player, Freshman and Coach of the Year awards will be announced on Wednesday morning, along with the Defensive and Sixth Player of the Year as well.
