Tar Heels To Face Notre Dame In ACC Semis

THE MATCHUP
♦ Top-seeded North Carolina (26-6) will try to advance to the ACC Tournament championship game for the fifth time in six years when it faces fourth-seeded Notre Dame (21-10) on Friday at 7 p.m. in the semifinals of the 2016 ACC Tournament in Washington, D.C.
♦ Friday's game will be a rematch of last year's ACC Tournament final, a 90-82 Notre Dame win in Greensboro.
♦ Dan Shulman (play-by-play), Jay Bilas (analyst) and Allison Williams (reporter) will call the game for an ESPN national TV audience (also online with WatchESPN).

TAR HEELS DOWN PITT, 88-71
♦ Carolina closed the first half on a 13-2 run to take the lead, then posted an 11-0 run in the second half to seize control fully in an 88-71 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday in the ACC quarterfinals.
♦ Brice Johnson posted 19 points and 10 rebounds and Joel Berry II scord 20 points to lead the Tar Heel offense.
♦ Carolina held Pitt to 44.4 percent shooting from the floor. That is the 21st consecutive game the Tar Heel defense has held the opponents to under 45 percent from the floor.
♦ Carolina shot 58.9 percent from the floor, its second-highest field goal percentage of the season. The highest was .593 against the Panthers in Chapel Hill on February 14th.
♦ It was the second time this season the Tar Heels shot 50 percent in the first half and 60 percent in the second, and both games were against Pitt.

WIN AT DUKE GARNERS HUGE RATINGS FOR ESPN
♦ Carolina's win at Duke on March 5 averaged 3.2 million viewers, making it the most-watched college basketball game of the 2015-16 season, according to ratings released by ESPN.
♦ The first UNC-Duke game of the year (played on Feb. 17) had the fourth-highest number of viewers of any game in 2015-16 with 2.9 million viewers on average.
