BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Nicole Greene earned Second Team All-America honors for finishing tied for 12th at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships. Greene was representing North Carolina as the only woman from the team to compete at the championships this year.
"Nicole Greene did an excellent job in her debut at the NCAA Championship, although she did not finish as highly as she wanted too," head coach Harlis Meaders. "As the only true freshman in the high jump I am extremely proud of her. This time last year she was jumping against high school kids and today she jumped against the collegiate record holder and the number three jumper in the world. In both cases she entered the competitions fearlessly. The future for her is extremely bright. I am proud of her and the work that Coach Hudson has done to get her to this point."
Greene finished tied for 12th after clearing 5-9 ¼ (1.76 meters). The Tar Heels will return to action to begin the outdoor season at the Dennis Craddock Carolina Relays.
